Middle Musquodoboit Pastoral Charge - A Good Balance

We are a two point Pastoral Charge in rural Nova Scotia. We work to balance a country lifestyle in an urban culture. We are proud to be part of the United Church of Canada.

Identity Statement

Supporting people to find their own light and share it with others. As a community of faith we strive to: Hold one another and the people of the Musquodoboit Valley with love. Encourage openness and awareness of the needs of the people of the Musquodoboit Valley and beyond. Educate ourselves and others as we try to meet these needs. Encourage our children to become responsible citizens, respectful of our history as a people of God, confident in themselves and us. Live with respect in creation. Recognize that faith and a relationship with God are personal convictions enhanced through discussion and interaction with others. We may not always agree and when compromise is reached, we recognize this as a sign of growth. Find the spark. Kindle the light. Share it lovingly.

Our Communities

Middle Musquodoboit is a rural community located approximately 100 kms from Nova Scotia's capital city of Halifax. The area has a strong agricultural history and base. Each summer the community hosts the Halifax County Exhibition. There is also live theatre in the Bicentennial Theatre & Cultural Center, which has hosted virtually every prominent entertainment name in Nova Scotia. The Theatre also houses the local Visitor Information Centre as well as the Lions Den and the local Food Bank. Elmsvale is a small community nestled between Middle and Upper Musquodoboit. Like Middle Musquodoboit much of the industry is forestry and agricultural in nature. Nearby is the community of Moose River Gold Mines which is presently being developed to resume gold mining which was a major industry in the area in the early 1900s. It is a beautiful area of the province especially in the autumn months when fall color is spectacular.
